Germany’s new defence minister has picked an early fight inside the country’s troubled coalition, pledging to beef up military spending against the will of junior partners the Social Democrats. A US mayor has been forced to apologise amid calls for his resignation after suggesting "killing out" gay people, abortion campaigners and "socialists".In a since-deleted post on Facebook, Mark Chambers, who is mayor of Carbon Hill, Alabama, said killing off minority groups would be necessary in a coming "revolution".“We live in a society where homosexuals lecture us on morals, transvestites lecture us on human biology, baby-killers lecture us on human rights and socialists lecture us on economics," the mayor posted on Facebook.Mr Chambers has been its mayor since 2004 in the town in the north west of Alabama. Canadian prime Minister Jusin Trudeau has confirmed that one man has died and five others are missing after a Canadian military helicopter went missing during a NATO operation. Debris and the aircraft's black box have been found in the sea between Greece and Italy, a Greek military officer and public television said Thursday. Canada's armed forces said the helicopter had been involved in an accident after taking off from the Canadian frigate Fredericton on Wednesday. "Debris has been found in Italy's zone of control and intervention" in the Ionian Sea, the Greek military officer told AFP, specifying the wreckage belonged to the Canadian helicopter. Six crew were aboard the helicopter when it disappeared, the officer said on condition of anonymity.
